Every once in a while the universe graces me with the awareness of the many blessings in my life. I believe I am blessed every day, but I am not awake every day. Today was one such day I was. Lately I have been reading the SHACK by Wm Paul Young. It is one of the best books I have read in quite a while. The spirituality in this book is simple but incredibly profound. I am slowly waking up the beauty and magnificence of the universe and the creator behind it. And all I can say it is about time. Kyros, over Chronos. Kyros, God's timing and Chronos, human timing are two completely different things. None-the-less, I am waking up to the goodness of the universe and particulary my own life.
Today was an especially good day, so was yesterday but today is what I am writing about because I don't want to forget the little 'gifties' that were a part of it. This morning I went to work with my dear friend R. R is a brilliant and creative man. He is a blessing in my life and I am grateful to be a part of the birthing of his new business. Our time together working was so fulfilling, I am just grateful for the opportunity to help him in this business venture.
Later in the early afternoon I went down to the dog store to say hello to my other good friend who manages the depot B. He is another blessing in my life. B is a guy who is I am convinced an angel on the earth who goes around giving joy and goodness to all with whom he encounters. While I was in the depot I met a wonderful man who is going blind. He shared with a few of us in the depot some of the most beautiful spiritually inspired lyrics he wrote. His words were so touching that I had to hug him afterward and ask him for a copy of them. They are truly beautiful. I felt as if I was given another gift this morning of meeting this man and receiving his inspiring message.
Life is like this, we receive beautiful little gifties through out our day, but most of the time I get so caught up in 'ought' 'should' 'what ifs' and other wasted monkey mind sort of crap that I usually miss the gifts. Today, I was awake, or at least more awake than I usually am and I was open to receive a day filled with gift. These gifts are not materialistic nor are they powerful in the worldly sense. But to me they are far more than that. They are life giving, and hope filling. God, for the first time, I was awake all of the entire day. Gee, I kind of like that. Living in the actual moment and not worrying or feeling fear filled. My god, what grace that is so abundant.
I literally have spent a life time being asleep in fear. I am not unique or alone in this. 99% of the population lives and functions like that. I for one do not want to live out the rest of my years like that. I want to be awake. Awake means living and moving and having my being totally in the moment; NOW. Echart Tolle, wrote books on practicing the presence of NOW. I read them. But now I am learning to LIVE them, a BIG difference between reading, intellectually taking it in and actually LIVING it. I dared to take a big bite of the banquet of life NOW, and I like it. Tomorrow I think I will take another bite. Hopefully I will continue eating this wonderful banquet.
There is a lot of goodness in our weary, fear filled greed eating world, Like Mack in the book THE SHACK, I am letting go of the Great Sadness of my life and biting into the nourishing banquet of the Divine Creator of the universe. I am so glad and grateful.
